Durga Pooja is one of the most important pooja during the Navratri festival. Many pilgrims will be doing the Durga Pooja at home. Normally, the Durga pooja during the Navratri will be held for nine days. Each day, the Lord will be worshipped in one form of the Lord Durga devi. Similarly each day of the nine days different types of pooja will be performed for the Lord Durga Devi. The devotees of the Lord Durga will be performing this pooja with utmost care and also with good pooja procedures. Some people will also be doing this pooja at home. Ghatasthapana means placing the idol of the Lord Durga Devi inside the mandir which is located in the home. The Ghatasthapana pooja marks the starting of the Durga pooja and will conclude on the ninth day of the pooja. For these nine days, the Ghatasthapana will make sure the pooja mandir is ready for the Durga pooja. The Ghatasthapana has to done by the purohit or the pilgrims themselves can also do the Ghatasthapana by following the below procedure.

- First, the pilgrims who wanted to do the Durga pooja had to buy the idol of the Lord Durga Devi. On the first day of the Navratri Durga Pooja, the pilgrims need to get the idol to the home.
- In the morning of the Ghatasthapana pooja days, the pilgrims have to take a head bath and clean the home and also the pooja mandir. Then the Ghatasthapana procedures can be performed.
- There are specific mantras for the Durga pooja Ghatasthapana. The pilgrims can recite the mantras and can do the Ghatasthapana as above. Then the Durga Navratri Pooja can be performed from the next day to the ninth day.
