Short answer: L1, L2 and L3 are no longer published TTD darshan categories. TTD’s own privileged-darshan page lists no L1, L2 or L3 tier, there is no ticket you can buy under those names, and no online quota is released for them. If a website, agent or app is offering you an "L1 darshan ticket" for Tirumala, that is not a TTD product.
The terms came from an internal protocol grading that TTD used for recommendation-based break darshan — roughly, how senior the recommending authority was. Pilgrims never bought an L1 or L2 ticket even when the grading existed internally. Today TTD does not use the labels in anything it publishes for pilgrims.
What TTD actually publishes today
The darshan routes TTD lists for pilgrims are these. Every one of them is either free or has a stated fee, and the paid ones are issued through TTD’s own online system or its counters — never through a private agent.

Alongside these, TTD runs seva-linked darshan such as Suprabhata Seva, Thomala, Archana and the Arjitha sevas, each with its own fee and its own online quota. Those are sevas, not darshan classes, and they are also released through TTD’s official portal only.
So what replaced L1, L2 and L3?
What used to sit behind those labels is now handled as recommendation-letter break darshan. In broad terms, and as TTD has described it in its own press releases:
- Letters of recommendation are issued by public representatives of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana — not by TTD, and not by any agency or website.
- Each representative may issue a limited number of letters, and issue is restricted to certain days of the week rather than being open-ended.
- Break darshan against those letters is conducted on designated days only, not daily.
- The original letter must be produced along with Aadhaar identification for every person named on it. Photocopies, scans and forwarded images are not accepted.
- Telangana recommendations are routed through the state’s own official portal rather than issued on paper by individual offices.
- Break darshan is suspended entirely on Brahmotsavam and other major festival dates.
These rules are revised often — the issuing days, the per-representative limits and the suspension windows have all changed more than once. Treat the list above as an outline of how the system works, not as a current-week timetable, and check TTD’s own announcements before you rely on any of it.
The part that matters for your safety
Because "L1 darshan" still circulates as a phrase, it has become useful cover for touts. The pattern is consistent and easy to recognise:
- Anyone selling an "L1", "L2" or "VIP break darshan" ticket for a fee is selling something TTD does not issue.
- Recommendation letters cannot be bought. A letter that arrives in exchange for money is either forged or misused, and both carry consequences for the pilgrim carrying it, not just the seller.
- TTD’s genuine paid darshan is the ₹300 Special Entry Darshan, released on its official portal at announced times. Its price does not change with demand.
- TTD does not appoint agents. There is no authorised reseller of Tirumala darshan.
If you cannot get an SED slot for your dates, Sarva Darshan is always available without booking, and Divya Darshan tokens are issued free on the footpath to anyone who walks up. Both are slower, and both are real.
Donor-linked darshan
TTD operates donation schemes under which contributors receive darshan and accommodation privileges for a defined number of days each year, with the entitlement scaling to the donation. This is the only route by which a payment legitimately produces break-darshan access, it is made directly to TTD’s trust accounts, and the entitlement is issued in the donor’s name. It is not resold and it is not transferable to strangers.
