The Parakala Mutt (Sri Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala Swami Mutt) is a Sri Vaishnava monastery headquartered in Mysuru, and its historic Tirumala branch on Ring Road does maintain a limited number of guest rooms and a marriage hall alongside its Sri Lakshmi Hayagreeva shrine. This accommodation is run by the mutt itself — not by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) — and is arranged directly with the mutt’s Tirumala office rather than through any public online portal. It is primarily used by the mutt’s followers and disciples, though other pilgrims may enquire subject to availability. For guaranteed, publicly bookable rooms, TTD’s official accommodation remains the standard option. This page is purely informational and lists no booking phone numbers.

What is the Parakala Matha?

The Parakala Matha is one of the oldest and most respected monasteries (mathas) of the Sri Vaishnava tradition, which follows the Vishishtadvaita (“qualified non-dualism”) philosophy of Sri Ramanuja. It was founded in 1268 CE by Brahmatantra Swatantra Jeeyar, a disciple of the great acharya Sri Vedanta Desika, and belongs to the Vadakalai denomination — one of the three streams (along with the Ahobila Matha and the Munitraya line) that the tradition later crystallised into.

The word Parakala is a Sanskrit epithet meaning “beyond time,” associated with Lord Narasimha; it was also the honorific title of the Alvar saint Tirumangai, from whom the matha takes its name. The mutt’s principal deities are Sri Lakshmi Hayagreeva and Vageesha (forms of Vishnu and Lakshmi associated with knowledge). For over two centuries the matha’s headquarters has been in Mysuru — relocated from Srirangapatnam, the former Mysore capital — and its pontiff has traditionally served as the raja-guru (royal preceptor) of the Wadiyar kings of Mysore. Today the matha maintains several branches and affiliated temples across South India.

The Tirumala Branch and Its Shrine

The Parakala Mutt’s Tirumala branch is one of its most important religious centres. Its historic Sri Lakshmi Hayagreeva Sannidhi stands at the eastern end of the North Mada Veedhi, facing the sanctum of Lord Venkateswara (“Tirumalayappan”). Daily worship, special rituals during the annual Brahmotsavam, and monthly observances are conducted here. Because of this proximity to the main temple, the mutt has long served pilgrims connected with the Sri Vaishnava sampradaya who visit Tirumala for darshan.

Does the Parakala Mutt Offer Rooms in Tirumala?

Yes — the Tirumala branch, located at #3 Ring Road (a short walk from the West Mada Veedhi), maintains guest accommodation and a marriage hall. According to the matha’s own information, these facilities have been renovated and furnished in recent years, and a number of the rooms are air-conditioned. A few points pilgrims should understand:

  • It is a mutt, not a hotel or a TTD complex. The rooms are maintained by the Parakala Matha itself and are not part of TTD’s pilgrim-accommodation network.
  • Primary users are the mutt’s community. The guest rooms chiefly serve the matha’s disciples, followers and those attending its religious and cultural functions; other pilgrims may enquire, but availability is limited and not guaranteed.
  • No public online booking portal. Room tariffs and marriage-hall reservations are handled directly by the Tirumala mutt office. There is no e-booking website for these rooms; details must be confirmed with the office in advance.
  • Availability is tight in peak seasons. During Brahmotsavam, festival days and long weekends, rooms fill quickly, so an early enquiry is advisable.

Because tariffs and room details for mutt-run accommodation are not published on any official TTD channel and can change, we do not quote fixed prices here — please confirm current particulars directly with the mutt.
