These theertham are located inside the dense forests in Tirumala. This is the reason they cannot be visited. The pilgrims however can obtain special permission for the TTD and the forest department to visit some of the theertham in Tirumala. There are some private individuals in Tirumala who take the pilgrims to the theertham for visiting. The Shakti Katari Theertham in Tirumala is also one such theertham that the pilgrims can visit. The Shakti Katari Theertham holds an important place in the Tirumala’s history.

  • The Shakti Katari Theertham is located near the Papavinasanam Dam in Tirumala. The pilgrims can easily reach the Shakti Katari Theertham from the dam. The Dam allows the pilgrims to the Shakti Katari Theertham only one in the year.
  • The timings of the Shakti Katari Theertham in Tirumala will be from 06 AM – 06 PM. The pilgrims however cannot visit the Shakti Katari Theertham after the timings are completed due to the entry into the foorests.
  • The pilgrims can also reach the Shakti Katari Theertham from the Gogarbham dam. The distance to the Shakti Katari Theertham from the Papavinasanam will be 1.5 kilometers.
  • The pilgrims who reach the Shakti Katari Theertham can offer the pooja in the theertham. The pilgrims cannot offer large pooja in the theertham. The TTD arranges basic facilities only for the pilgrims to visit the Shakti Katari Theertham.
