Tirumala Darshan Types: Free, ₹300, Special Categories & Pro Tips

There are more than twenty ways to get Sri Venkateswara Swamy darshan at
Tirumala. Thirteen routes are completely free, including Sarva Darshan, SSD
tokens and Divya Darshan. Paid options start at the ₹300 Special Entry
Darshan, seva tickets include darshan, and donors can use SRIVANI. Seasonal
events like Vaikunta Dwara Darshan open extra windows annually.

This guide maps every legitimate route — free, paid, seva-linked, donor and
seasonal — plus the routes that no longer exist and the common myths. All
bookings happen only on the official TTD portals (ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in /
tirumala.org) or at designated counters; there is no other legitimate channel.

Free Darshan Routes: All 13 Ways

1. Sarva Darshan (Dharma Darshan)

The default route open to everyone. Walk into the Vaikuntam Queue Complex
(VQC) — no ticket, no booking, no ID barrier for entry to the queue itself.
Waiting time swings from 2 hours on quiet weekdays to 18+ hours on festival
weekends, so check the
live darshan status and waiting time
before you commit to the compartments.

2. SSD Time-Slot Tokens (Slotted Sarva Darshan)

Free same-day tokens that convert the random Sarva Darshan wait into a fixed
reporting slot. Issued at three Tirupati counters — Srinivasam (near the bus
stand), Vishnu Nivasam (near the railway station) and
Bhudevi Complex at Alipiri. Roughly 10,000–15,000 tokens are issued per day (more during festivals),
the original Aadhaar card of every adult is mandatory, and one person can take
only one token every 30 days. Tokens routinely run out within a few hours on
weekends.

3. Divya Darshan (Footpath Walkers)

Free tokened darshan reserved for pilgrims who climb on foot via the Alipiri
(about 3,550 steps) or Srivari Mettu (about 2,388 steps) footpaths. Tokens are
issued along the route — Srivari Mettu walkers collect at Bhudevi Complex and
scan at the 1,200th step — so the priority genuinely goes to walkers, not bus
passengers.

4–7. Privilege Categories: Seniors, Divyang, Infants, Patients

• Senior citizens (65+): a free monthly online quota (around
  1,000 per day in two slots) booked on the TTD portal, plus separate entry
  arrangements on the hill.
• Physically challenged / Divyang: free privilege darshan
  with disability certificate; one attendant is generally permitted.
• Infants under one year: parents carrying an infant enter
  free through the Supadham entrance with age proof.
• Chronically ill patients: free privilege entry with
  supporting medical documents, via the same special-entry arrangements.

8–9. NRI and Foreign-National Darshan (Supadham)

Pilgrims holding a foreign passport, OCI or PIO card use the Supadham entrance
with their documents. This is the same channel for NRIs and foreign nationals
of any nationality; Indian passport holders cannot use it. No fee applies for
the entry itself, though donations are welcomed.

10. Angapradakshinam Token Holders

The Angapradakshinam vow (rolling around the inner sannidhi) carries its own
limited daily token quota — roughly 750 tokens, not issued on Fridays and
major festival days. The token includes darshan after the ritual. Tokens go in
seconds when the quota opens online.

11–13. Service Routes: TTD Staff, Srivari Seva, Parakamani

TTD employees and their dependents have a daily staff darshan channel.
Registered Srivari Seva volunteers (the maroon-scarf pilgrims
managing queues and annadanam) receive darshan linked to their service days,
and Parakamani volunteers who count hundi offerings are
similarly provided darshan. These are service commitments, not shortcuts — but
they are genuine, free routes.

Paid Darshan Routes

Special Entry Darshan — ₹300 (Seegra Darshan)

The workhorse paid option: ₹300 per person, time-slotted, sold
online only on ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in in monthly quota
releases that sell out within minutes for weekends. The name on the ticket
must match a government photo ID, and children below 12 accompany free. There
is no offline public counter for general pilgrims — anyone selling “₹300
tickets on arrival” to civilians is a tout.

Defence Personnel — ₹300 On Arrival

The one genuine on-arrival exception. Serving personnel of the Army, Navy and
Air Force — and widely reported to include paramilitary forces such as CRPF,
BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB and Coast Guard — can buy the ₹300 ticket at a dedicated
counter at Tirumala (Supadham verification point) with no advance booking.
Carry the original service ID; dependents with valid dependent ID cards may
accompany. Entry is subject to crowd levels, so confirm current arrangements
on the official portal before travelling.

Seva-Linked Darshan: The Ticket Includes Darshan

Every arjitha seva ticket — Suprabhatam, Thomala, Archana, Kalyanotsavam,
Unjal Seva, Sahasra Deepalankarana and the weekly sevas — includes darshan of
the Lord, often closer and calmer than the regular lines. Two booking
mechanics matter: the inner-temple daily sevas (Suprabhatam, Thomala, Archana,
Ashtadala Pada Padmaradhana) run through an
electronic dip lottery where you register in a window and are
drawn at random, while Kalyanotsavam and the other Malayappa Swamy sevas
release as first-come quotas. Virtual seva bookings also carry a Special Entry

Donor and VIP Routes

SRIVANI Trust — ₹10,500 Per Person

The most-searched premium route: a ₹10,000 donation to the SRIVANI Trust plus
a ₹500 darshan ticket, per person. Around 1,000 slots are available daily via
the official portal (advance and same-day releases) and offline through the
JEO/Donor Cell, with a counter reported at Tirupati airport. Since bookings
from 1 November 2025, the reporting point is
4:30 PM at Vaikuntam Queue Complex-I (earlier batches
reported at 10:00 AM) — verify your ticket’s printed reporting time, and note
timings can be revised; confirm on the official portal. Traditional dress is
mandatory, and children under 12 accompany free.

Protocol / VIP Break Darshan

Break darshan for constitutional dignitaries, judges and senior officials,
routed through the TTD Protocol Office / JEO camp office on a written
recommendation submitted by around noon the previous day, with a ₹500 ticket
per person and biometric verification. The old L1/L2/L3 tier labels were
officially scrapped in TTD board reforms (the labels still circulate
informally). This route is not purchasable by the public —
every “VIP darshan package”, WhatsApp QR payment or paid “recommendation
letter” offer is fraud, and TTD vigilance regularly books such cases.

Anand Nilayam and Donor Slabs

Large donors earn structured lifetime privileges. Contributions of ₹10 lakh
and above to schemes such as Anand Nilayam / Anantha Swarnamayam confer
lifetime break-darshan privileges for the donor and family. Donor trusts
(Nitya Annadanam from ₹1,000 with 80G benefit, Pranadana and others) grade
privileges by slab — for example, roughly ₹1–5 lakh donors get one Supadham
darshan day per year for a family of five with accommodation and laddus,
scaling up to VIP break darshan on multiple days per year for ₹1 crore+
donors. An AP NRI Society quota also reserves break darshan for AP-origin
NRIs. Exact slab benefits change; confirm the current chart on the official
portal before donating.

Seasonal and Festival Darshan

• Vaikunta Dwara Darshanam: the north-gate (Vaikunta Dwaram)
  passage opens around Vaikunta Ekadasi–Dwadasi, typically a ten-day window
  from late December to early January, with lakhs of special tokens issued.
• Brahmotsavam vahana and gallery darshan: during the
  Salakatla and Navaratri Brahmotsavams in 2026, the processions around the four mada streets give everyone darshan of
  Malayappa Swamy on the vahanams — free from the galleries, no temple queue
  at all.
• Pournami Garuda Seva: on every full-moon evening the
  monthly Garuda Seva procession
  circles the mada streets — a beloved free darshan of the processional deity.
• Radha Saptami: one day, six vahana sevas from dawn to night
  — often called a mini-Brahmotsavam.
• Teppotsavam and Rathotsavam: float festival darshan on the
  Swami Pushkarini and chariot processions during the annual calendar.

Discontinued: The Package-Tour Quota (Scrapped November 2024)

For years, state tourism corporations (APTDC, TSTDC, TTDC, KSTDC), APSRTC and
select airlines held a daily quota of roughly 4,000 darshan tickets bundled
into package tours. In November 2024 the TTD trust board
scrapped this quota entirely after finding large-scale
diversion of tickets to private agents at inflated prices. Package operators
can now legitimately sell only transport, meals and accommodation —
no operator can guarantee darshan tickets as part of a package. If a tour package “includes confirmed ₹300 darshan”, that claim should
raise an immediate red flag.

What Does NOT Get You Darshan

• A TTD room booking: booking accommodation in Tirumala or
  Tirupati grants no darshan slot whatsoever (only high-slab donor passbooks
  carry darshan privileges). Book darshan separately.
• Children’s rituals: ear-piercing, annaprasana and tonsure
  (mottu) at Tirumala are performed at designated spots, but they are not
  darshan tickets — the family still uses Supadham or a normal route for
  darshan.
• Agent “quotas”: since the package-tour quota was scrapped,
  no private party holds any darshan allotment. Paid “confirmed VIP darshan”
  offers on social media are scams.

Which Route Should You Use?

• Fit walker: climb Alipiri or Srivari Mettu for Divya
  Darshan — free, tokened, and the most rewarding way up.
• Senior citizen (65+): book the free senior quota online for
  the following month; if it is gone, the ₹300 SED is the gentlest paid
  alternative.
• Family with an infant: use the free Supadham infant entry —
  carry the child’s age proof and go directly to the special entry point.
• NRI or foreign passport holder: Supadham with passport/OCI
  — no Indian booking race needed.
• Short notice (this week): SSD token early morning at a
  Tirupati counter, or plain Sarva Darshan on a Tuesday–Thursday; serving
  defence personnel can use the on-arrival ₹300 counter.
• Budget pilgrim: Sarva Darshan or SSD tokens cost nothing;
  time your visit midweek and check the live status page before entering the
  queue.
• Comfort with budget: ₹300 SED booked in the monthly
  release; for a near-garbhagriha experience, SRIVANI at ₹10,500 per person.
• Ritual-focused: try the seva dip lottery every month — a
  Suprabhatam or Kalyanotsavam ticket buys participation plus darshan.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many types of darshan are there in Tirumala?

Broadly five families: free routes (13 of them, from Sarva Darshan to
volunteer service), paid darshan (₹300 Special Entry and the defence counter),

and festival slots sell out within minutes. There is no on-arrival ₹300
counter for the general public — only serving defence personnel have that
facility.

What is SRIVANI darshan and how much does it cost?

A ₹10,000 donation to the SRIVANI Trust plus a ₹500 ticket — ₹10,500 per
person — gives break-type darshan with about 1,000 slots daily. Tickets booked
from 1 November 2025 report at 4:30 PM at VQC-I; confirm your ticket’s printed
time.

Can a tour package guarantee my Tirumala darshan?

No. TTD scrapped the tourism package-tour darshan quota in November 2024 after
black-marketing was detected. Operators may sell travel and rooms, but darshan
must be booked by you on the official portal or obtained via free tokens.

Does booking a TTD room give me a darshan slot?

No. Accommodation and darshan are entirely separate systems. Apart from
high-value donor passbook privileges, no room booking includes darshan — book
your darshan route independently.
