Vaikunta Ekadasi falls in the month of Magali. The Ekadasi which falls in this month is known as the Vaikunta Ekadasi. This day is the prime day of all the other Ekadasi which occurs in the year. This Vaikunta Ekadasi is said to be the favourite one of Lord Vishnu. So, the pilgrims will be worshipping Lord Vishnu on this day. The pilgrims can go to the temples to celebrate the Vaikunta Ekadasi. Some temples will be opening and will be allowing the pilgrims to the Vaikunta Dwaram on this day. This Vaikunta Dwaram is also known as the Swarga Vaasal for pilgrims.

  • Vaikunta Ekadasi which is also known as the Mukkoti Ekadasi is followed by the strict rules of food. The pilgrims who will be worshipping the Lord on this day will not take food on this whole day.
  • Generally, the pilgrims will not take food from waking up to the next day. Some pilgrims will be fasting till evening and after the pooja will eat the food
  • Some pilgrims will do fasting without even drinking water. This is the toughest fasting to follow. The pilgrims who do the fasting without even drinking water and eating will be fasting for the whole day till the next day
  • The pilgrims will be reciting only the Vishnu Sahasranama on this day. Some pilgrims will not speak even one word part from the Vishnu Sahasranamam on this day. The Vaikunta Ekadasi Vishnu Sahasranama can be recited for 108 time and also 1008 time if possible.
