Editorial note: This page is an informational guide only. Tirumala Tirupati Online is an independent pilgrim-information blog and is not affiliated with the property, any temple authority, or any booking service. For any accommodation booking, please use the official TTD website or contact the property directly through their own verified channels.

Adi Seshu Rest House is one of the many pilgrim rest houses at Tirumala managed under the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) accommodation system. Rooms here are not sold or reserved directly by any private agent — they are allotted the same way as every other TTD rest house at Tirumala: either through advance online booking on the official TTD portal, or through walk-in allotment at the Central Reservation/Reception Office (CRO) in Tirumala, subject to availability. This guide explains how the process works, what to expect, and where to confirm every detail officially.

How TTD Accommodation at Tirumala Is Allotted

Every year, lakhs of pilgrims travel to Tirumala for darshan of Sri Venkateswara Swamy, and TTD operates a very large stock of rooms, cottages, choultries and dormitories to house them. Accommodation broadly falls into three buckets:

  • Free accommodation: TTD runs several large choultries with free rooms for families, plus dormitory halls, provided with electricity and water at no charge. These are handled through the Central Reception Office near the Tirumala bus stand.
  • Paid rest houses, guest houses and cottages: Spread across the Sri Padmavathi Guest House area, the Sri Venkateswara Guest House area, and the Varahaswami/Travellers Bungalow cottage areas. Tariffs on TTD’s official list range from as little as around ₹50 per unit for basic cottages up to several thousand rupees for larger suites.
  • Advance-booked rooms: A defined quota of rooms is released online in advance for pilgrims who plan ahead.

Option 1 — Advance online booking (official portal)

TTD releases its accommodation quota for online booking well in advance — typically about three months ahead of the stay date. Practical points pilgrims should know:

  • Booking is done only on the official TTD portal (ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in, linked from tirumala.org). Avoid third-party or reseller sites.
  • A valid darshan or seva ticket is generally tied to the room booking, and TTD usually requires a minimum number of persons (commonly two) on the ticket.
  • A registered user is typically allowed to book only one room for a given period, to keep allotment fair across pilgrims.
  • Demand is extremely high — released rooms for popular dates are often taken within minutes, so exact availability for a specific rest house like Adi Seshu cannot be guaranteed.

Option 2 — Walk-in allotment at the CRO

Pilgrims who reach Tirumala without a prior booking can try for a room at the Central Reservation/Reception Office (CRO), which functions on a first-come, first-served basis:

  • You must be physically present at Tirumala to apply at the CRO counter.
  • You cannot hand-pick a specific rest house or room. Instead you indicate a budget/room category, and a room is allotted if available in that category — it may or may not be in Adi Seshu Rest House.
  • Walk-in rooms are limited and are usually exhausted within the first hour or two of the day, so pilgrims relying on the counter should arrive early in the morning.

Location and Getting There

Adi Seshu Rest House sits within the Tirumala hill town, the same compact settlement that surrounds the main temple. Most TTD rest houses at Tirumala are within a short walk or a brief free shuttle ride of the temple and the main queue complexes. Tirumala is reached from Tirupati (about 20-22 km uphill) by TTD/APSRTC bus, by car via the ghat roads, or on foot via the Alipiri or Srivari Mettu footpaths. Private vehicles must observe the toll-gate and timing rules on the ghat road.

Checkout Rules and Extra Rent

TTD accommodation is allotted for a standard 24-hour period. If you overstay, TTD enforces enhanced rent: the officially published policy raises the rent to 200% after 48 hours and 400% after 72 hours. Plan your darshan and departure so you vacate on time and avoid penalty charges.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Adi Seshu Rest House an official TTD rest house?

It is described as a pilgrim rest house at Tirumala operating within the TTD accommodation framework. It is not separately itemised on TTD’s public rest-house tariff page, so pilgrims should confirm its current status, category and rate on the official TTD portal or at the CRO.

Can I book Adi Seshu Rest House online in advance?

You can book TTD accommodation online in advance on ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in, but you generally cannot pre-select one specific rest house. Rooms are allotted by category and availability, so a specific building like Adi Seshu cannot be guaranteed.

What documents or tickets do I need?

For online rooms you normally need a valid TTD darshan or seva ticket, and TTD typically requires a minimum of two persons on the ticket. Carry a government photo ID for verification at check-in.

How far in advance are rooms released?

TTD generally releases its online room quota about three months ahead of the travel date. Popular dates sell out very quickly after release.

What if no room is available online?

You can try walk-in allotment at the CRO counter in Tirumala on a first-come, first-served basis, or use the free choultries and dormitories that TTD provides for pilgrims. Arrive early, as demand is high.

How much does a room cost?

TTD tariffs vary widely by category — roughly from about ₹50 per unit for basic cottages up to several thousand rupees for larger suites. The exact price for any given room is shown on the official portal at the time of booking, so confirm it there rather than relying on any fixed figure.
