During the first three days of Navratri worship the form of Durga and Arishadvargas, the next three days worship the form of Lakshmi and Srisampada, and the last three days worship the form of Saraswati and gain knowledge. Devi Bhagavatam mentions that those who cannot worship all the days of Navratri should worship the goddess at least on the last three days. Saptami, Durgashtami, Maharnavami.   • It is said in the Puranas that ancient kings used to choose this auspicious time for their raids inspired by the victory of Goddess Dandetti over the demon Mahishasura Mardiniga.
  • Ashvayuja Shuklapaksha Navami is called ‘Maharnavami’. Like Durgashtami and Vijayadashami, ‘Maharnavami’ is also a special day for Amma. On this day Goddess is worshipped as Aparajita. They are worshipped as Mahishasuramardini.

  • Sugarcane along with other pastries are offered to the goddess of Maharnavami. Kanya Puja is performed on Maharnavami in places like Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar etc.
  • On the occasion of Navratri, the nine forms of Kanya are symbolically represented and worshipped as Shakti Swarupas. Abhishekam is done to the goddess, saffron is applied on her forehead and new clothes are offered.
  • In some other places, Suvasini Puja and Dampati Puja are celebrated on Maharnavami. Bathukamma Puja is performed on Maharnavami in Telangana and Saraswati is worshipped.
    It is also on this day that Lord Bhagirath brought the Ganga from earth to heaven to make his ancestors righteous. Mantra siddhi occurs on Navami Tithi, the most important day of Navratri Diksha.
  • Hence it is called Siddha. Homams are performed based on the japasamkhya performed by the worshipers of Devi. It is believed that those who complete the fast will get the all-around readiness of the all-rounders.
  • Kshatriyas, labourers, motorists and castes perform Ayudha Puja. Hindus wish for success in any undertaking, for vehicles to be safe without any accidents and for any business started to continue successfully. Ayudha Puja is done for that. Navami lasts till 12.52 pm so the pooja should be completed at this time.
