Sringeri Temple Guru Pada Puja Timings Online Booking Cost

Shiva Venkateswara Jun 3, 2023 Updated Jul 6, 2026 6 min read

Guru Pada Puja at Sringeri is a devotional offering made at the sacred sandals (paduka) of the reigning Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Sri Sharada Peetham, and it is arranged in person at Sringeri rather than through a booking website. The Peetham’s own portal, sringeri.net, publishes a daily Guru Darshanam window (the time devotees can have the Jagadguru’s darshan) but does not list Guru Pada Puja as a fixed-price online ticket. Because this seva is tied to the Jagadguru’s presence and daily schedule, its exact timing and offering amount are decided locally and are best confirmed at the Peetham’s seva counter on the day of your visit.

Sringeri Temple Guru Pada Puja: Timings, Cost and Booking

Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham, on the banks of the Tunga river in Chikkamagaluru district, Karnataka, is the southern amnaya peetham traditionally associated with Adi Shankaracharya. The living head of the Peetham is the Jagadguru Shankaracharya, and devotees who visit Sringeri often wish to seek his blessings through darshan and, where the schedule permits, by participating in a puja offered at his holy feet or paduka — commonly referred to as Guru Pada Puja or Gurupaduka Puja. It is a simple but deeply significant act of reverence to the guru lineage (guru parampara).

Unlike routine temple archanas, this offering depends on the Jagadguru being at Sringeri and on his daily engagements, which shift when he is travelling on camps (yatras) or during major festivals. For that reason the Peetham does not sell it as a standard advance-priced ticket, and details can vary day to day.

Timings

The Peetham officially lists Guru Darshanam daily from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, which is the window in which devotees receive the Jagadguru’s darshan and can seek to make offerings at his feet. Some independent travel sites quote a wider morning window of about 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM for guru-related seva; treat these secondary figures as indicative only. The single most important thing to note is that these timings are, in the Peetham’s own words, subject to change based on events and the Jagadguru’s camps, so confirmation on the day is essential.

Cost

Sringeri does not publish a fixed price for Guru Pada Puja on its official website. Several third-party sites mention a figure of around Rs 500 per person, but this is not confirmed by the Peetham and offering amounts of this nature are commonly treated as a kanikkai (offering) made per temple guidelines. Do not rely on any quoted number in advance — ask at the seva counter, where payment is typically accepted by cash, card or UPI.

Booking — is it online?

An earlier generation of the Sringeri website did offer some seva bookings online, but at present the Peetham’s dedicated portal, seva.sringeri.net, is oriented toward sevas that are performed at the temple with prasadam despatched by post — for example archanas and abhishekas to Goddess Sharadamba. Guru Pada Puja, being tied to the Jagadguru’s personal presence, is not listed as an online-bookable seva there. In practice, devotees arrange it in person: report to the Peetham’s seva or information office at Sringeri, confirm that the Jagadguru is present and that the offering is being permitted that day, and register at the counter. This matches the general position that many Sringeri seva tickets are issued at the counter rather than online.

To plan your visit around the Guru Darshanam window, it helps to know the wider schedule at the Sharadamba temple:

  • Sri Sharadamba Temple: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Maha-Mangalarati: 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 7:30 PM
  • Other temples in the complex: 6:00 AM – 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Chandramoulishwara Puja (performed by the Jagadguru): around 9:00 PM – 10:00 PM on regular days (from 8:30 PM on Fridays)

Arriving in the mid-morning lets you take Sharadamba darshan and then be in place for the 10:30 AM Guru Darshanam.
