Kolhapur Mahalakshmi Temple temple is located in the city of Kolhapur in the state of Maharashtra. This temple is one of the 108 Shakti Peethas. Kolhapur city itself becomes subitsa bhoomi due to the presence of Mahalakshmi. There are 50 small temples around the Mother’s temple and 3000 temples all over the town. This is the place where Devi destroyed the demon Kolahasuran by riding a lion. The sculpture of Mother is 1300 years old. Mother is carrying Amudasurabi in her hand to hold the umbrella of Adisashan.

Twice a year the sun’s rays fall on Amman in Garbhagraha in the evening. It is believed by the devotees that this wealth-giving temple in the state of Maharashtra gets the perfect grace of Mahalakshmi and Mumbai becomes a rich commercial city. The idol is made of a 40 kg diamond and offers grace to the devotees who come to see it. Ratha Utsavam is celebrated in the month of April.
