It is very important for those who perform pujas during Pitru Pakshas to know about Pitru Doshas. If someone in their family is not properly cremated after their death or if someone dies suddenly, that person and his family members have to suffer the pitru dosha for many generations. Pitru Dosha is caused by many reasons like the funeral of ancestors, improper performance of Shraddhas, insulting ancestors, insulting women in the house, slaughtering animals, and disrespecting elders.

  • New clothes and food items should be donated to Brahmins to perform Shraddha during Pitru Pakshas.
  • Animals and dogs should be fed during Pitra Pakshas.
  • A photo of your ancestors should be hung on the south-facing wall. Garland them with flowers and remember them.
  • Nagastotra, Pitru Kavacham, Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra or Rudra Suktam or Pitru Stotra, Nava Graha Stotras should be recited during Pitru Pakshas.
  • By doing this, the ancestral spirit is appeased. Also chanting Vishnu mantras and reciting Hanuman Chalisa also bring peace to the sons and many believe that all evils are removed
  • Many believe that doing this will appease the spirits of their ancestors. Because it is believed that during this time, in some form or another, their ancestors will come down and bless their family. But at this time some people make some mistakes. By doing that, Pitru Doshas will haunt you, to avoid that from happening, some methods must be strictly followed. Meanwhile, those who have pitru dosha must follow these remedies.
  • Those who have pitru dosha should put black sesame seeds, white sandalwood and white flowers in water and offer them to Raavi tree on Bhadrapada Amavasya day. After that, a lamp with pure ghee should be lit near the Ravi tree. Chant the mantra ‘Om Sarva Pitru Devaya Namah’. Doing this will free you from Pitru Dosha.
