Jagannath Puri LIVE Darshan Online — What Is Actually Streamed

There is no round-the-clock LIVE darshan of Lord Jagannatha streamed online. The Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration webcasts the great chariot festivals, and keeps those webcasts archived afterwards, but the daily rituals inside Shreemandira are not broadcast. If a website or an app offers you a permanent live feed of the deities, it is not coming from the temple.

This page sets out what the administration actually streams, when, and where to check it — and how to tell an official channel from an imitation.

What the temple actually broadcasts

Live coverage from Puri is tied to the festival calendar rather than to the daily schedule. The National Informatics Centre runs the webcast portal rathjatra.nic.in on the administration’s behalf, and it carries an archive of past broadcasts covering:

Snana Yatra — the ceremonial bathing of the deities
Rath Jatra — the chariot procession to the Gundicha temple
Bahuda Rath Jatra — the return journey
Suna Besha — the deities adorned in gold ornaments

During those festivals the administration also publishes a live page on its own website for that year’s event. Outside the festival window those pages sit dormant, which is why a link that worked last Rath Jatra may show nothing today.

How to reach the temple’s own channels

The administration publishes at shreejagannatha.in, which states in its own footer that it is the website of Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration, Puri. The office can be reached on +91-6752-222002 or at jagannath[dot]or[at]nic[dot]in.

On mobile apps: we could find no app published, operated or linked by the administration. If you search an app store for a Jagannath temple app, what you find is somebody else’s product, however official the icon looks. Treat any such app as unaffiliated unless the administration itself links to it from the address above.

A warning the administration issues itself: Shree Jagannath Temple Administration states that it never accepts donations or offerings from devotees for online puja, and asks devotees to be careful of fraudulent sites offering those services. If a site takes your money for an online puja at Puri, that money is not reaching the temple.

Darshan timings at Shreemandira

Darshan of Shree Jagannatha Mahaprabhu is available for most of the day, in windows set by the ritual schedule. As published on the administration’s Darshan Facilities page:

The temple opens and darshan begins at about 5.30 A.M., after the Mangal Arati.
Devotees are allowed up to the Jagamohan until the completion of Besha, roughly 7.30–8 A.M.
Darshan pauses for about 1 hour 15 minutes — around 8 A.M. to 9.15 A.M. — for the Gopal Ballava Puja.
After that, darshan is from the Naatamandir until Sakaala Dhoopa Puja, approximately 11 A.M.
Entry up to the Jagamohan resumes until the Bhoga Mandap Puja, approximately 1 P.M.
Darshan from near the Jagamohan is available again between 2 P.M. and 5.30 P.M.

These windows shift on festival days and during special rituals, and the administration can change them without notice. Check its website before planning a visit around a particular hour.

Telling an official source from an imitation

Start from the administration’s own address rather than from a search result or an app store listing, and follow its links outward.
Be sceptical of anything charging you for online darshan or online puja at Puri. The administration says it does not take such payments.
A live feed outside festival season is a red flag. The temple does not stream daily rituals from inside the sanctum.
Check the address bar, not the branding. Lapsed temple domains are routinely bought by unrelated businesses, and the page keeps the old name for a while.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I watch Jagannath Puri darshan live every day?

No. The administration does not run a daily live stream of the deities. Live coverage is published for the major chariot festivals, and archived afterwards on the NIC webcast portal.

Is there an official Jagannath temple mobile app?

Not one that the Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration publishes or links to. Apps using the temple’s name in the stores are run by third parties, so do not enter payment details or personal information on the strength of the name alone.

Where can I watch the Rath Jatra webcast?

On rathjatra.nic.in, which carries the live coverage during the festival and an archive of previous years’ broadcasts the rest of the time.

Does watching cost anything?

No. The festival webcasts are free to watch. The administration also states that it does not accept online payments for puja or offerings at all, so a request for payment is a sign you are not on an official channel.
