Mani Manjari Choultry Tirumala TTD Online Booking Rent Facilities

Tirumala Editor Desk Jul 28, 2023 Updated Aug 31, 2026 5 min read

Short answer: Mani Manjari Choultry is not a TTD facility, and there is no TTD online booking for it. We checked TTD’s own published listings and Mani Manjari does not appear in them. Private choultries in Tirumala — and there are many — are run by trusts, community associations and families, not by the devasthanam. They are allotted on arrival or by direct enquiry with whoever runs them, and TTD’s booking portal has no role in that.

If your reason for reading this page is to find somewhere to stay in Tirumala, the section below on how accommodation actually works there will be more useful than any choultry-specific page.

Why the confusion exists

Tirumala’s accommodation is a mix of two very different systems that look similar from outside:

TTD accommodationPrivate choultries
Run byTirumala Tirupati DevasthanamsIndependent trusts, caste and community associations, family endowments
Booked howTTD’s official online portal during announced release windows, or the Central Reception Office on arrivalDirect enquiry with the choultry itself; commonly on arrival only
Listed whereTTD’s own siteNowhere official — which is why third-party pages fill the gap, often inaccurately
TariffPublished by TTD, from free upwardsSet by the choultry; varies widely

Because the two systems are described in the same language on aggregator sites, a private choultry routinely gets written up as though it were a TTD property with an online booking page. That is what has happened with this one.

What TTD does run

TTD’s own accommodation in Tirumala runs from free dormitory and shed space through modest rooms to cottages, with tariffs published on its site. Two routes exist and only two:

  • Online release. Rooms are put out on TTD’s official portal for defined booking windows. You pay TTD directly and carry the confirmation.
  • Central Reception Office, Tirumala. Walk-in allotment against ID on arrival. This is also the route for free accommodation. Nothing can be held in advance.

In neither case can you reserve a specific building by name. TTD allots from what is free.

TTD’s Kalyana Mandapams — the actual booking scheme

Because this page’s original version described Mani Manjari as a hall for weddings and functions, it is worth setting out what TTD really offers on that front, since it is genuinely bookable.

TTD operates a network of Kalyana Mandapams — on the order of 210 across Andhra Pradesh and 74 in Telangana — and these can be booked online through TTD’s official portal. They are available for weddings, upanayanam, namakaranam, shashtipurti, annaprasanam and Satyanarayana vratam, and Hindu religious, cultural and social organisations can book them for their programmes. Service charges are published by TTD and vary by the location’s category, from a few hundred rupees at smaller centres upward.

Separately, TTD conducts free marriages at the Kalyana Vedika on Papavinasanam Road in Tirumala, a facility it has run since April 2016. That is a TTD service, it costs the couple nothing, and it is arranged through TTD — not through any choultry or agent.

If you are considering a private choultry anyway

Plenty of pilgrims stay in them and have a perfectly good experience. A few things are worth knowing before you commit:

  • Availability is usually on arrival. Treat any page promising you a confirmed advance reservation with suspicion unless it is the choultry’s own verified channel.
  • Prices are unregulated and rise sharply on festival dates and weekends. There is no published tariff to hold anyone to.
  • Facilities are basic and vary enormously between choultries. Photographs on listing sites are frequently not of the property.
  • Do not pay an advance to a third party who is not the choultry. If a payment request arrives through a messaging app from someone you found on a search result, that is the common Tirumala accommodation scam.
  • Verify what you are booking is in Tirumala rather than Tirupati town. They are 20 km and a ghat road apart, and the distinction is often blurred in listings.

Our own recommendation is straightforward: try TTD’s online release first for your dates, keep the CRO as your fallback on arrival, and treat a private choultry as the third option rather than the first. TTD accommodation is cheaper, its tariff is published, and there is no one in the middle.

Where private choultries sit in Tirumala

Most of Tirumala’s private choultries are clustered along the roads leading away from the temple towards the bus stands and the Papavinasanam side, within walking distance or a short shared-transport ride of the queue complexes. They exist because Tirumala’s own capacity has never matched its footfall: on a heavy weekend the hill holds far more pilgrims than TTD has beds for, and the choultries absorb the difference.

That also explains their character. Many were endowed decades ago by families or community trusts to house pilgrims from a particular region or community at little or no cost, and some still operate that way. Others have drifted towards commercial pricing. The two are indistinguishable from a search result, which is the practical problem for a pilgrim planning from a distance.

Through TTD’s official portal during an announced release window, or at the Central Reception Office in Tirumala on arrival.

Can I book a TTD hall for a wedding?
