Tirumala Vishesha Puja (Monday Seva): Timings, Tickets & Booking

Editor Desk Jul 13, 2026 7 min read

Vishesha Puja is the weekly arjitha seva performed at the Tirumala Sri
Venkateswara Swamy Temple every Monday morning. Ticket holders report at
around 6:45 AM, the puja begins at about 7:30 AM, and the ticket costs an
indicative Rs. 600 for one person, which includes darshan of the Lord after
the seva. Booking is online only, through the official TTD portal
(ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in), under the monthly seva quota that TTD releases on
pre-announced dates.

Unlike the pre-dawn inner-sanctum sevas, Vishesha Puja is performed on the
utsava murthy — Sri Malayappa Swami with His consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi —
and its centrepiece is the Chaturdasa Kalasa ritual, a ceremonial bath
(snapana tirumanjanam) offered from fourteen sanctified kalasams. This guide
covers the ritual, timings, ticket details, prasadam, dress code and the exact
booking mechanism.

What Is Vishesha Puja?

Vishesha Puja (also spelled Visesha Pooja) is the special Monday worship in
the weekly seva cycle of the Tirumala temple. TTD introduced this seva on 8
April 1991, and it fills the Monday slot in the week’s arjitha calendar —
Tuesday has Ashtadala Pada Padmaradhana, Wednesday has Sahasra
Kalasabhishekam, Thursday has Tiruppavada Seva and Friday has the Abhishekam.

The seva is not performed on the Moolavar (the main stone deity inside the
sanctum). Instead, after the second bell, the utsava vigraha of Sri Malayappa
Swami, together with Sridevi and Bhudevi, is brought to the mantapam, and the
Chaturdasa Kalasa Vishesha Puja is conducted there in front of the seated
devotees. This makes it one of the few sevas where pilgrims watch an elaborate
ritual unfold at close quarters rather than filing past the sanctum.

The Ritual: Chaturdasa Kalasa Puja and Snapana Tirumanjanam

Chaturdasa means fourteen, and the puja takes its name from the fourteen
kalasams (sanctified vessels) arranged before the deities. According to the
official TTD description, seven of the kalasams hold suddhodaka (pure water),
while the other seven contain gingelly oil, milk, curd, ghee, akshatas, darbha
grass and panchagavya.

The sequence broadly runs as follows:

  • Priests perform ankurarpana and punyahavachanam, the purificatory
    preliminaries.
  • The Pancha Suktas are recited as the kalasams are sanctified.
  • A snapana tirumanjanam — the celestial bath — is offered to the utsava
murthis with the contents of the kalasams.
  • A homa is performed and concluded with purnahuti.
  • Naivedyam is offered, followed by the abhisheka harati.

Watching the tirumanjanam of Malayappa Swami with His consorts, accompanied by
Vedic chanting, is the core devotional experience of this seva. Fresh
alankaram with flowers and sandal paste follows the sacred bath.

Timings and What Happens on the Day

As per the TTD weekly seva schedule, the reporting time is around 6:45 AM and
the seva begins at about 7:30 AM. Ticket holders should be at the designated
entry point (follow the instructions printed on the ticket or SMS) well before
reporting time, carrying the original photo ID used at booking. After ticket
and ID verification, pilgrims are seated in the mantapam for the puja.

The full ritual, from the preliminaries to the abhisheka harati, generally
takes about 90 minutes to two hours. After the seva concludes, ticket holders
are taken for darshan of the Moolavar in the sanctum, so plan for the whole
engagement — reporting, seva and darshan — to occupy most of the morning.

Ticket Price and What It Includes

The Vishesha Puja ticket is priced at an indicative Rs. 600 per person. Each
ticket admits one person only — unlike Kalyanotsavam, which admits a couple.
The ticket covers:

indicative and confirm the live price on the booking portal. You can compare

How to Book Vishesha Puja Tickets

Vishesha Puja is booked through the official TTD portal,
ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in, under the Seva Booking section. Two points matter
here, because Tirumala sevas use two different booking mechanisms and it is
easy to confuse them:

  • Vishesha Puja uses the monthly quota release, not the e-Dip
    lottery.

The pre-dawn inner-sanctum sevas (Suprabhatam, Thomala, Archana, Ashtadala
Pada Padmaradhana) are allotted through the
Electronic Lucky Dip, where registration order does not matter. Vishesha Puja, along with the
Malayappa Swami sevas such as Kalyanotsavam and Unjal Seva, is instead
    released as a first-come, first-served online quota.
  • Quotas open on pre-announced dates, weeks in advance. TTD
publishes a schedule announcing when each month’s seva quota goes live (for
example, a month’s quota may be released two to three months ahead). Around
250 tickets per Monday are reported to be released online, and they sell out
very quickly — often within minutes of the quota opening.

To book, log in to the TTD portal with a registered account (Aadhaar-linked
details are required and names must match your ID), select Vishesha Puja, pick
an available Monday, enter pilgrim details and pay online. Carry the booked
ticket (printout or SMS confirmation) and the same original photo ID on the
seva day. Note that arjitha sevas are generally suspended during Brahmotsavams
and certain festival periods, so those Mondays will not appear in the
calendar.

Dress Code for Vishesha Puja

Traditional dress is mandatory for all arjitha sevas at Tirumala. Men should
wear a dhoti (pancha) with uttareeyam, or kurta-pyjama; shirts and trousers
are not permitted for seva participants. Women should wear a saree with
blouse, half-saree, or churidar with dupatta. This is enforced at ticket
verification, so dress accordingly before reporting.

Is Vishesha Puja Worth Booking?

For devotees who want to witness a full Vedic ritual rather than a brief
sanctum darshan, Monday’s Vishesha Puja is one of the most accessible options:
moderately priced, held at a comfortable morning hour compared with the
pre-dawn reporting of the other weekly sevas, and centred on a tirumanjanam
that pilgrims rarely see otherwise. The trade-offs are the single-person
ticket and the very limited quota.

Frequently Asked Questions

abhisheka harati.

What is the Vishesha Puja ticket price?

The ticket costs an indicative Rs. 600 and admits one person. TTD revises seva
prices periodically, so confirm the current price on the official portal,
ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in, before booking.

What time does Vishesha Puja start on Monday?

The reporting time is around 6:45 AM and the seva begins at about 7:30 AM,
after the second bell. The full ritual generally takes 90 minutes to two

How do I book Vishesha Puja tickets online?

Book on the official TTD portal, ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in, under Seva Booking.
