The Annual Brahmotsavam of Sri Govindaraja Swamy commenced on June 2, 2025, in Tirupati, marked by the ceremonial Dhwajarohanam during Mithuna Lagna. This auspicious event, organized by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), signifies the beginning of a series of grand religious festivities dedicated to the deity.

The Brahmotsavam spans from June 2 to June 10, 2025, featuring various rituals and processions:

  • June 2: Dhwajarohanam and Pedda Sesha Vahanam
  • June 6: Garuda Vahanam
  • June 9: Rathotsavam (Chariot Festival)
  • June 10: Chakrasnanam (Holy Bath)

The temple premises are adorned with vibrant decorations, and digital screens have been installed at key locations like the railway station, Vishnu Nivasam, and near the temple tank to facilitate public viewing.

Dhwajarohanam Ceremony

The festival commenced with the Dhwajarohanam, where the Garuda flag was hoisted atop the Dhwajasthambham amid Vedic chants and devotional music. This ritual is believed to invite divine blessings and ensure the well-being of society and families.

Golden Palanquin Procession

Prior to the flag hoisting, the Utsava idols of Sri Govindaraja Swamy, along with Chakrathalwar and other deities, were taken in a golden palanquin around the four mada streets. This symbolic procession represents the Lord’s inspection of festival arrangements.

Snapanatirumanjanam

At the Kalyana Mandapam, the deities underwent Snapanatirumanjanam, a sacred bath with milk, curd, honey, sandal paste, and fruit juices, signifying purification and sanctity.

Pedda Sesha Vahanam

In the evening, the Pedda Sesha Vahanam procession took place, where the deity was mounted on the seven-hooded serpent, symbolizing divine protection and grace.
