  • For the year 2024, the Makara Sankranti date is on 15 January 2024, Monday. The pilgrims can come to the temples and can do the pooja during the pooja timings or the pilgrims can also do the pooja in their homes.
  • Normally, the pooja during the Makara Sankranti will be done for the ancestors. So on the day of the Makara Sankranti, the people will go to the temples or the river side, where they will be doing the pooja to the ancestors.
  • Then in the afternoon timings, the pilgrims will offer new clothes and also food for the ancestors or the elders in the family who have died recently.
  • The pilgrims will offer food and pooja in the afternoon timings. For the pooja timings, the pilgrims need to check the Rahu Kalam and also the Yama Gandam as the pooja will not be performed in these timings.
  • Apart from these timings, the Makara Sankranti can be performed at any time. But if the pilgrims are doing the pooja in the temple, then afternoon and early morning timings are the best.
