Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt (Sri Raghavendra Swamy Matha), Mantralayam, is open for Moola Brindavana darshan from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the morning and again from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the evening, every day of the year. The main gate is closed around 2:00 PM so the Garbha Gruha (sanctum) can be cleaned, and darshan resumes at 4:00 PM. Mantralayam is the sacred abode of Sri Raghavendra Tirtha (1621–1671), the revered Dvaita saint of the Madhva tradition who entered his Moola Brindavana here in 1671 CE. This guide sets out the verified darshan and pooja schedule, the main sevas, a note on the Brindavana, and how to reach Mantralayam, with every figure checked against the mutt’s official portal.

Mantralayam Raghavendra Swamy Mutt darshan timings

The Moola Brindavana of Sri Raghavendra Swamiji is kept open for darshan in two sessions each day. Timings can shift a little depending on the rush of devotees and change noticeably during Aradhana and other festival days, so treat the table below as the standard daily schedule and confirm special-day timings on the official portal before you travel.

SessionTiming
Morning darshan6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Midday break (sanctum cleaning)2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Evening darshan4:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Tirtha prasadam (free lunch)1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

The mutt is open on practically every day of the year. During the annual Aradhana Mahotsava (the observance marking Rayaru’s Brindavana pravesha), timings, crowd management and seva sequences all change, and the town sees very heavy footfall.

Daily pooja schedule and Mantrakshata

The mutt follows the traditional worship cycle centred on Sri Moola Rama and the Brindavana. According to the official mutt, regular pooja is performed when the Peetadhipati (head Swamiji) is resident at Mantralayam; when His Holiness is away on tour (Sanchara), appointed scholars and priests conduct the daily worship. Pooja timings vary slightly with the crowd and change during Aradhana days.

  • Mantrakshata blessings: When His Holiness is at Mantralayam, He generally blesses devotees and gives Mantrakshata from about 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM in the morning and 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM in the evening.
  • Sevadars and seva access: Devotees who have booked a seva are admitted according to that seva’s scheduled time.
  • Prasadam: Free tirtha prasadam (lunch) is served daily, generally between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, as part of the mutt’s Annadana.

Because the exact sequence of morning and evening rituals is adjusted around the Swamiji’s presence and festival observances, the mutt itself advises devotees that timings “may vary a bit.” For the precise schedule on the day of your visit, rely on the official portal rather than fixed minute-by-minute charts on third-party pages.

Main sevas at Mantralayam

Sri Raghavendra Swamy Matha offers a wide range of sevas, broadly grouped by the mutt into Daily Sevas and Lifetime Sevas, all of which can be reserved through the official online services. Popular sevas include:

  • Dinaika Sampoorna Annadana Seva – sponsoring a full day’s Annadana (free meals) for pilgrims.
  • Vastra Samarpana Seva – offering of clothes.
  • Sankalpa Seva – a vow-based seva.
  • Bangaru (Golden) Pallaki and Golden Chariot sevas, Kanaka Kavacha Seva and Tulabhara Seva.
  • Various archanas and special sevas, including additional observances during periods such as Adhika Masa.

Seva reservations, donations and accommodation are all handled through the mutt’s official website. Rooms at the Mantralayam guesthouses are organised in A, B and C wings with live availability shown on the portal. Book accommodation and sevas only through the official channel, and confirm current charges there; this site does not process bookings and lists no booking phone line.

The Moola Brindavana and Sri Raghavendra Swamy

Sri Raghavendra Tirtha (1621–1671) was one of the most celebrated saints in the lineage descending from Madhvacharya, the founder of the Dvaita (dualist) school of Vedanta. He is venerated as an incarnation of Prahlada, the child-devotee of Lord Vishnu, and was a great scholar, composer and worshipper of Sri Moola Rama. In 1671 CE, at Mantralayam on the banks of the Tungabhadra, he entered his Moola Brindavana in a state of living samadhi (jeeva samadhi). Devotees hold that his presence and grace continue to bless those who visit.

The mutt at Mantralayam is one of the holiest pilgrimage destinations for followers of the Dvaita tradition. Its principal object of worship is Sri Moola Rama, worshipped alongside other forms of Rama in the mutt’s parampara. The Brindavana darshan is the central act of pilgrimage here, and the surrounding complex includes the sanctum, the guesthouses and Annadana halls run by the mutt.
