Narayanagiri Guest House Tirumala — Pilgrim Information Guide

Shiva Venkateswara Apr 20, 2023 Updated Jul 7, 2026 6 min read

Narayanagiri Guest House is one of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) rest-house complexes on the Tirumala hill, provided for pilgrims who come for darshan of Sri Venkateswara Swamy. It is not a private hotel or a commercial lodge — it is TTD accommodation, and rooms can only be obtained through the official TTD system. This independent guide explains what the Narayanagiri rest houses are, roughly where they sit on the hill, how allotment works, and the rules every pilgrim should know before planning a stay.

What is Narayanagiri Guest House?

“Narayanagiri” refers to a cluster of TTD rest houses on the Tirumala hill rather than a single building. Devotees commonly speak of Narayanagiri Rest House 1, 2 and 3 (an additional block is also referenced in TTD tariff notices), with broadly similar rooms across the blocks. Like all accommodation on the hill, these rest houses are owned and managed by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, the statutory body that administers the Sri Venkateswara temple and pilgrim facilities. Every year lakhs of pilgrims are allotted rooms here, which makes Narayanagiri one of the well-known stay options for families visiting the temple.

The rooms are simple, functional pilgrim lodging rather than luxury rooms — the emphasis is on a clean, affordable base close to the temple town so families can rest between darshan and other sevas. TTD offers a wide spread of accommodation across Tirumala, from free dormitory-style choultries to ordinary rooms, special rooms, cottages and suites; the Narayanagiri blocks fall within the paid rest-house category.

Where is it located?

The Narayanagiri rest houses are within the Tirumala township, part of the ring of TTD guest houses and choultries that surround the temple area on the hill. TTD groups its accommodation into several rest-house zones across Tirumala; Narayanagiri is one of these zones. Because the whole hill town is compact and TTD runs free internal bus services, most rest houses are within a short ride or walk of the main temple and the Central Reception Office near the bus stand. Exact block and room location is shown on your allotment confirmation at the time of booking, so it is best to treat any map you see elsewhere as indicative only.

How allotment works

All TTD rooms — including the Narayanagiri blocks — are allotted through official TTD channels, not through agents or third-party “booking” sites. There are two broad routes:

  • Advance online allotment: TTD releases an accommodation quota online roughly three months (about 90 days) ahead of the stay date, with a fresh month’s quota opened periodically. Pilgrims log in to the official TTD portal, go to the accommodation/e-services section, and book against availability.
  • Current booking on arrival: A portion of rooms is handled on the spot for pilgrims who reach Tirumala without an advance reservation, typically through the Central Reception Office and designated counters. Availability here depends heavily on the crowd and on festival days.

Because online quota can be exhausted within minutes of release on busy dates, many families plan their travel around the quota-release calendar published on the official portal.

Important rules for pilgrims

  • Minimum two occupants: A room is not allotted for a single individual; at least two persons must check in per room.
  • 24-hour stay: Rooms are allotted for 24 hours only from the time of check-in, and TTD does not grant extensions. Late vacation attracts steeply enhanced rent.
  • One room per user: A registered user on the TTD website is generally allowed to book only one room in Tirumala (or Tirupati) within a three-month period.
  • Carry valid ID: The photo ID used at the time of booking must be produced at check-in.
  • Book only through official channels: TTD repeatedly warns pilgrims to use only its official portal and to avoid look-alike or reseller “booking” sites.

A note on tariffs

Room rents at Tirumala are set by TTD and are revised periodically. In a 2024 revision widely reported in the press, rents for the Narayanagiri rooms were raised (with corner-suite and special-cottage categories priced higher, inclusive of GST). Because these figures change with each revision, we are deliberately not quoting a fixed price here — the tariff you actually pay, and what is currently available, is always the figure displayed for your dates on the official TTD portal at the moment of booking.

Frequently asked questions

Is Narayanagiri Guest House run by TTD or a private operator?

It is run by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). All rooms on the Tirumala hill, including the Narayanagiri blocks, are TTD accommodation — there is no private ownership of these rest houses.

How far in advance can I get a room?

TTD opens an online accommodation quota roughly three months (about 90 days) before the stay date, released in monthly batches through its official portal. A share of rooms is also handled as current booking for pilgrims arriving without a reservation.

Can one person book a room?

No. TTD does not allot a room to a single individual; at least two people must check in for one room.

How long can I stay?

Allotment is for 24 hours from the time of check-in, and no extension is provided. Overstaying attracts sharply higher charges, so plan your check-out accordingly.

How many rooms can I book?

A registered TTD user is generally permitted to book only one room in Tirumala or Tirupati within a three-month period.

Where is the official place to check availability?

On TTD’s own website, tirumala.org, in the accommodation / e-services section. Availability, rules and tariffs shown there are the authoritative source.
