  • Ahoi Ashtami fast is observed for the longevity of the child and for the attainment of children. Radha Kund has its own importance in this context. Radha Kund is located in Govardhan Parikrama, about 26 km from Mathura city, which is the main stop of the parikrama.
  • There is also a mythological belief about this kund that a childless couple takes a bath together in Radha Kund on the midnight of Ashtami of Kartik Krishna Paksha, then they get a child. For this reason, people come from far and wide to take bath in this pool on Ahoi Ashtami.
  • The time of midnight, which is called Nishita Kaal, is considered the best time to take this holy dip. So the bathing starts from midnight and continues throughout the night. The couple, standing in the water, offer Kushmanda, and raw white pumpkin, also known as petha, to Radha Rani, to get their wishes fulfilled soon and conceive with success. Kushmanda is decorated in red clothes and offered.
  • Couples whose vows are fulfilled, to express their gratitude, visit Radhakund again and take a dip and express their thanks to Radha Rani.
