Lord Sri Athi Varadar in Kanchipuram is making headlines for past few weeks due to the specialty of the Lord rising from the temple tank which is also called as Anantha SarasĀ for every 40 years. This means, the idol of Lord Sri Athi Varadaraja Perumal is stored in the temple tank for 40 years. After every 40 years the idol is lifted and then worshiped for 48 days. After 48 days of Worship, the idol will be again stored in the temple tank.




This occasion which occurs every 40 years has now occurred in this year of 2019. The temple authorities has made a lot of arrangements for the pilgrims to have Darshan of Lord Sri Athi Varadar in these 48 days. And lakhs of pilgrims are flocking to Kanchipuram from July 1st 2019 to have a glimpse of Lord Sri Athi Varadar.

The temple authorities has made a lot of arrangements for the pilgrims likeRs. 300 Special Darshan, Rs. 500 Sahasranama Darshan, Special Darshan que for Senior Citizen and Free Darshan.

Athi Varadar Standing Position Darshan Dates

The amazing part of the Darshan is the Lord Sri Athi Varadar is kept for Darshan to pilgrims for 48 days and these dates are from the 1st July 2019 to 17th August 2019. In the initial dates of the Darshan the idol is kept in Sayana Kolam that means the idol will be kept in a sleeping or reclining posture and the pilgrims have Darshan of the Lord in Sleeping Posture. The Last of the Sayana Kolam in 31st July 2019.

After this posture, the idol is made available to pilgrims in a standing posture from 1st August 2019 to 17th August 2019. Between these dates, the idol of Lord Sri Athi Varadar is available for pilgrims for Darshan in a standing position untill the last day of 17th August 2019.
