The pilgrims need to follow the rules of the Ayyappa Mala strictly as the Mala is one of the most powerful pooja which is performed to the Lord Ayyappa Swamy. The rules of the Ayyappa Mala will be applicable to the Family Members also. The family members including the wife, children and Mother and father of the Ayyappa Mala Pilgrims should follow the rules strictly. Then the pilgrims need to make sure the relatives and the people around them also follow the Ayyappa Mala Rules till the completion of the Sabarimala Pilgrimage. The Ayyappa Mala will be completed after the pilgrims go to the Sabarimala temple and offer the Mala.

  • The Family members should not touch the Ayyappa Mala Pilgrims from Day one and should not touch the Swamy at any cost.
  • The Ayyappa Mala Swamy should be referred to as Swamy only throughout the Deeksha days and the name of the person should not be used.
  • The family members should also not touch the person’s clothes and items during this period. All items should be kept separately and the food also should be cooked separately for the piglrims. This rules is mostly followed in the Tamil, Kannada and Telgu regions.
