This shrine where Shri Bhramaramba Mallikharjunu was found is located in the Kurnool district. Srisailam, which is known as Kailash, is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga Kshetras in the country.

Among the 18 shakti peethas where Adishakti was enshrined, Srisailam has a special place as the place where Bhramaramba shines. Hence, Srisailam is known as ‘Bhramaramba Mallikharjuna Swamy’ Kshetra. This field has been important since the 3rd century BC. The Ikshvakus, Satavahanas, Vishnukundins, Pallavas, Vijayanagara emperors, Kakatiyas, Rashtrakutas, Chalukyas, Reddy Rajas visited this temple and built the temple ramparts.
