What is Jyestabhishekam?

Jyestabhishekam is an ancient festival dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, celebrated during the Jyestha Nakshatram of the Jyestha month as per the Hindu lunar calendar. The purpose is to:

  • Re-consecrate and spiritually recharge the Utsava Murthies
  • Cleanse them through ritual abhishekams
  • Protect them by adorning armor sets gifted by kings and royal families over centuries

Symbolism Behind the Kavachams

  • Vajra Kavacham (Diamond): Represents indestructible protection and brilliance
  • Muthyala Kavacham (Pearl): Symbolizes purity and peace
  • Swarna Kavacham (Gold): Embodies divine prosperity and grace

Each kavacham holds historical and devotional significance, and is kept under high security in the temple treasury when not in use.
