What is TTD Nitya Annadanam?

Nitya Annadanam is a daily free-meal scheme launched by TTD in 1985 as a seva to Srivari bhaktas. The scheme currently serves over 1 lakh pilgrims a day at Tirumala and satellite shrines, funded entirely by donor contributions under the SVBC and Nitya Annadanam Trust. Meals include rice, sambar, pappu, curry, curd rice, pickle, and sweets on festival days.

The menu rotates weekly. Telugu pilgrims will find familiar favourites like gongura pachadi and pulihora. On Ekadashi, the kitchen switches to an upavasa menu so fasting devotees can still eat a sattvic meal without breaking their vow.

Tirumala Annadanam Timings at Each Location

The main annadanam hall is the Matrusri Nitya Annadanam Complex adjacent to the Vaikuntam Queue Complex (VQC-II). Two more complexes operate inside the queue compartments themselves for pilgrims already in line. Here is the complete timing map.

Matrusri Nitya Annadanam Complex

The Matrusri complex is the flagship annadanam hall with a capacity of 3,000 pilgrims at a time. It has separate zones for senior citizens, women with infants, and specially-abled pilgrims. Hand-wash stations, RO drinking water, and air coolers make the experience comfortable even during summer.

Reach Matrusri complex by walking 5 minutes from the Srivari temple exit towards the VQC area. Shoes must be left at the allotted racks before entry. Volunteers direct non-Telugu speakers through English and Hindi signages at every turn.

MBC and Reliance-Funded Expansion

The Madhavam Balaji Complex (MBC) houses a dedicated annadanam hall for pilgrims staying in MBC-34 cottages. A major expansion plan announced by TTD proposes an additional 4,000-seater Annadanam block with logistics support funded by the Reliance Foundation. The timeline and final capacity are yet to be officially notified; pilgrims can follow updates on news.tirumala.org. For MBC room bookings, see our MBC-34 guide.

Alipiri and Footpath Tirumala Annadanam Timings

The Alipiri Toll Gate block serves pilgrims arriving by car, bus, and footpath. It is particularly useful for trekkers climbing the Alipiri Mettu steps who need an early breakfast before the ascent. The block also has a doctor’s desk and locker room.

Pilgrims trekking via Srivari Mettu (2,388 steps, shorter route) and Alipiri Mettu (3,550 steps, traditional route) receive free water, buttermilk, and snacks at designated mandapams. Warm meals are served at the Gali Gopuram rest station and the Narayanagiri base. Carry a reusable bottle and your TTD entry pass.
