Traditions & Insider Insights

Throughout the festival, devotees experience more than just rituals. For example:

  • On Garuda Seva (Sept 28), it is said that children softly place flower petals at the deity’s feet, symbolizing surrender, creating a moving scene many tacitly cherish.
  • During the Swarna Rathotsavam (Sept 29), the air turns unusually silent—few speak, and hearts feel as golden as the chariot itself.
  • On the final day, during Chakrasnanam, priests perform certain silent Agama verses known only within tradition. Locals believe that even just touching the Dew drops of the Chakra brings healing—an intimate magic rarely spoken about publicly.

These subtle traditions enrich pilgrims’ experience in ways not found in official line-ups.

Pilgrims’ Practical Guide

  • Plan Early: TTD has released darshan, seva, and accommodation schedules for October 2025, so book your stay and tickets now for comfort and certainty
  • No VIP Break Darshan: TTD has suspended this service during Brahmotsavam to maintain festival flow and equity
  • Best Times: Witness the Surya Prabha (Sept 30 morning) and Chandra Prabha (Sept 30 evening) to connect deeply with the cosmic tones of day and night.
  • Stay Hydrated & Patient: Crowds swell daily—carry water and follow volunteer directions.

Why Attend Brahmotsavam 2025?

  • Divine Immersion: Each day brings you closer to Lord Venkateswara through visible symbols of myth and time.
  • Cultural Panorama: Music, dance, temple chants, elephant parades, and floral artistry create a sensory collage you won’t find elsewhere.
  • Shared Devotion: Strangers become spiritual companions in queues, exchanging prasadam, stories, and hope.

Tirumala Brahmotsavam 2025—from Sept 24 to Oct 2—is a festival unlike any other. With rituals ranging from the first flag hoisting to the chakra immersion, and layered cultural lore embedded in each day, it stands as a celebration that heals, inspires, and unites.

On the ninth and final day of the Brahmotsavams, the Lord is given the sacred bath known as Chakrasnanam, in the form of Chakrathalwar (Sudarsana Chakra). First, in the premises of Varaha Swamy temple, abhishekam (holy bath) is performed for Sri Devi and Bhu Devi along with the Lord. After this, the Sudarshana Chakra is taken to Swami Pushkarini (temple holy tank) for the ceremonial bath.

This ritual is called the Chakrasnana Utsavam. Devotees strongly believe that taking a dip in Swami Pushkarini during the time of Chakrasnanam washes away sins and bestows divine blessings

Attend with devotion, plan with foresight, and let this festival be your living tapestry of devout joy.

Editor’s Note — Tirupati Ground Transport Update, April 2026

As of April 2026, pilgrims arriving at Tirupati Railway Station (TPTY) or Renigunta Airport (TIR) continue to have multiple onward options to Tirumala. TTD-operated buses run regularly from the Alipiri bus stand and the Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple complex in Tirupati town, while APSRTC also operates frequent services up the ghat road. Pilgrims opting for the traditional padayatra can start at Alipiri Mettu or the shorter Srivari Mettu footpath (Srinivasa Mangapuram side).
