Tirumala Tirupati Online is an independent pilgrim-information blog and is not affiliated with the property, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), any temple authority, or any booking service. Room allotment happens only through the official TTD portal. We do not take bookings and do not link to resellers.

What is the Sri Padmavathi Guest House at Tirumala?

The Sri Padmavathi Guest House is one of the principal accommodation zones maintained by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on the Tirumala hill, close to the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple. Rather than a single building, “Sri Padmavathi Guest House” is the name TTD gives to a cluster of rest houses, cottages and guest houses grouped into one administrative area. According to TTD’s official accommodation listing, this zone contains roughly 15 properties with published daily tariffs ranging from about ₹500 to ₹6,000, covering everything from ordinary rooms to air-conditioned suites. It sits alongside two other TTD accommodation areas at Tirumala — the Sri Venkateswara Guest House area and the Travellers Bungalow Cottages area — and rooms across all of them are allotted through the same official system.

Room categories and general tariffs

TTD offers a broad spread of room types so that pilgrims of every budget can find a place to stay. Within the Sri Padmavathi Guest House area and the wider Tirumala accommodation network, the categories generally include:

  • Dormitory halls and choultries — large shared halls, several of which TTD provides free of charge for families, with electricity and water supplied at no cost.
  • Ordinary and single rooms — basic non-AC rooms at modest tariffs, suited to short overnight stays.
  • Special and AC rooms — better-appointed rooms with attached bathrooms and, in many cases, air-conditioning.
  • Suites, cottages and corner suites — larger units, both ordinary and deluxe, for families and groups.

The table below summarises the general tariff bands published across TTD’s Tirumala accommodation areas. Exact rates vary by building and change from time to time, so always confirm the current figure on the official portal before you plan.

How rooms are allotted — the official process only

This is the part where pilgrims most often go wrong, so it is worth being precise. TTD allots its Tirumala rooms through two official channels, and no legitimate booking exists outside them:

  • Advance reservation (online). Rooms are released on the official TTD portal on a rolling window, generally up to 90 days in advance. Pilgrims typically book a minimum of a few days ahead and a maximum of 90 days ahead, and a single registered login is usually limited to one accommodation booking within a 90-day cycle. Because demand is very high, released rooms can sell out within minutes.
  • Current / spot booking (in person). A share of rooms is held back for pilgrims who arrive without a reservation. These are issued on the spot at TTD’s reception counters at Tirumala, subject to availability on the day.

TTD states that it provides equal opportunity to book its guest houses, rooms, suites and dormitories to darshan-ticket holders of all categories. In practice, a large portion of rooms is released to the online advance-reservation quota and the remainder is kept for spot allotment, so both planners and walk-in pilgrims have a route to a room.

For free or nominal accommodation, TTD directs pilgrims to its Central Reception Office near the bus stand at Tirumala, where choultry rooms and dormitory halls are assigned on arrival based on availability.

Check-out timing and penalties

TTD rooms are allotted on a 24-hour basis. To keep rooms circulating for the large volume of daily pilgrims, TTD applies an enhanced-rent penalty when a room is not vacated on time. Per the official accommodation page, the rent is charged at 200% after 48 hours and 400% after 72 hours of occupancy. If you need a longer stay, plan for it at the time of booking rather than assuming an easy extension.

Practical tips for pilgrims

  • Book only on the official portal. Use TTD’s own website (tirumala.org) and its booking portal at ttdevasthanams.ap.gov.in. Never pay a third-party “agent” or reseller for a TTD room.
  • Watch the release dates. The exact monthly quota-release date is announced only a week or two ahead through TTD’s official news channel, so check news.tirumala.org close to your travel dates.
  • Keep valid photo ID. The lead guest’s government photo ID is required at check-in and should match the booking.
  • Have a backup. If online rooms are gone, plan to try spot allotment at the reception counters, or consider TTD’s free choultry and dormitory options.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Sri Padmavathi Guest House only for VIPs?

No. TTD states it provides equal opportunity to book its guest houses, rooms and suites to darshan-ticket holders of all categories. Some premium units are in higher demand, but ordinary pilgrims can and do book rooms through the official advance and spot quotas.

Can I book a Padmavathi Guest House room online?

Yes. TTD releases a large share of its Tirumala rooms for online advance reservation on its official portal, generally up to 90 days ahead. A separate share is kept for in-person current/spot booking.

How much does a room cost?

Published tariffs in the Sri Padmavathi Guest House area run roughly from ₹500 to ₹6,000 per day depending on the building and room type, with budget cottages elsewhere in Tirumala from about ₹50 and free choultry/dormitory options also available. Confirm the exact rate on the official portal.

How far in advance can I book?

TTD’s online advance-reservation window generally extends up to about 90 days. A registered login is usually limited to one accommodation booking per 90-day cycle, and rooms can sell out quickly after release.

What happens if I check out late?

Rooms are on a 24-hour basis. TTD charges enhanced rent of 200% after 48 hours and 400% after 72 hours, so vacate on time or arrange a longer booking upfront.

Is there any free accommodation at Tirumala?

Yes. TTD provides several large choultries and dormitory halls free or at nominal cost, with electricity and water supplied. Ask at the Central Reception Office near the bus stand on arrival.
