Yes — pilgrims can stay overnight at Vontimitta. The Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple at Vontimitta (YSR Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh) is administered by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which runs a Pilgrim Amenities Complex beside the temple offering a dormitory hall and a small number of rooms, alongside a government AP Tourism hotel and private lodges in nearby Kadapa town. Because the on-site accommodation is limited, allotment is handled by TTD through its official channel, and current availability and tariffs should always be confirmed on the official TTD portal, tirumala.org. This guide explains the verified facilities, how allotment works, and what to expect — with no booking line, agent, or reseller involved.

About Vontimitta Kodandarama Swamy temple

Vontimitta is famous for one of the finest single-stone Rama shrines in India. In the sanctum, the deities of Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana are carved from a single block of stone on a common pedestal — which is why the village is also called Ekasilanagaram (“City of One Stone”). Inscriptions date the temple’s construction to the 14th century, with major expansion in the 16th century under Vijayanagara rule, and it is regarded as one of the best surviving examples of Vijayanagara architecture in the Rayalaseema region, with elaborately carved mandapas and monumental gopurams.

Following the 2014 bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, Vontimitta was designated the official venue for the state-sponsored Sri Rama Navami celebrations and the ceremonial Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam (the celestial wedding of Rama and Sita), which draws very large crowds each spring. Because the temple is a TTD-managed shrine, its accommodation and amenities are developed and run by TTD rather than by a private trust.

Accommodation options at Vontimitta

Vontimitta is a small pilgrimage village, so the choice of stay is modest and centred on the TTD complex next to the temple. Here is what is verified to exist.

TTD Pilgrim Amenities Complex (PAC)

TTD built a Pilgrim Amenities Complex adjoining the temple, opened in May 2018, at a cost of about Rs 4.60 crore across roughly 28,310 sq ft. According to TTD’s own announcement, the ground/first floor provides a dining facility for over 600 devotees, a dormitory hall that can rest nearly 100 people, and the upper two floors hold 15 rooms, of which two are deluxe rooms. This is the main on-site option for pilgrims who wish to stay close to the shrine.

TTD’s trust board has also approved a much larger new guest house with 100 rooms at Vontimitta, sanctioned at around Rs 37 crore, to expand capacity for the growing footfall during Sri Rama Navami. As this is a development project, treat its opening date and room availability as not yet finalised and confirm the latest position on the official TTD portal.

AP Tourism (Haritha) hotel and Kadapa town

The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) operates a small Haritha hotel near Vontimitta, located on the highway overlooking the lake within walking distance of the temple, with a modest number of rooms and a restaurant. This is a government tourism property and is separate from the TTD complex. For a wider choice of hotels and lodges — including budget and mid-range options — most travellers base themselves in Kadapa city, about 25 km away, and make a day trip to the temple.

How accommodation allotment works

Because on-site capacity at Vontimitta is limited, TTD manages the rooms and dormitory through its official channel. In practice this means:

  • The official source of truth is the TTD portal, tirumala.org — check there for current availability, room categories and tariffs before you travel.
  • Rooms and dormitory space at the complex are also allotted at the temple’s own reception/counter on the spot, subject to availability, which is tightest during festival days.
  • During the Sri Rama Navami period demand far exceeds supply; many pilgrims plan a same-day visit or stay in Kadapa instead.

Room tariffs and any online-booking arrangements for a TTD shrine can change from season to season, so we deliberately do not print rates here. Always confirm the current position on the official TTD portal rather than through any third party. Beware of unofficial “booking” websites or individuals quoting phone numbers for Vontimitta rooms — use only the official TTD channel.

Getting to Vontimitta

Vontimitta has its own railway station about 1.4 km from the temple, on the Kadapa–Rajampet line, making rail a convenient option. By road, the temple is roughly 25 km from Kadapa city, which is the nearest major transport hub and has the widest bus, rail and hotel connections. The nearest airports are at Kadapa (limited flights) and Tirupati / Renigunta for wider connectivity.

Frequently asked questions

Is there accommodation available at Vontimitta temple?

Yes. TTD runs a Pilgrim Amenities Complex next to the Kodandarama Swamy temple with a dormitory hall for about 100 people and 15 rooms (including two deluxe rooms), plus a dining hall. An APTDC Haritha hotel and hotels in Kadapa city offer further options.

Who manages the temple and its rooms?

The Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple at Vontimitta is administered by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which also developed and manages the on-site accommodation.

How do I book or get a room?

Accommodation is allotted by TTD. Check the official TTD portal, tirumala.org, for current availability and tariffs, or enquire at the temple’s own reception counter on arrival. Rooms are subject to availability and are hardest to get on festival days.

What are the room charges?

Tariffs for TTD-run rooms and dormitories change periodically, so we do not list a fixed price here. Confirm the current rates on the official TTD portal before you travel.

When is the busiest time to visit?

The Sri Rama Navami Brahmotsavam and the Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam — for which Vontimitta is the official state-sponsored venue — draw the largest crowds each year, and rooms are very scarce then. Off-season visits are far more comfortable for finding a stay.

How far is the railway station from the temple?

Vontimitta railway station is about 1.4 km from the temple. Kadapa city, roughly 25 km away, is the nearest major hub for buses, trains and hotels.
