Before you leave home — plan & book

Everything is easier if you book in advance

  • Do Book on the official TTD portal only (links below). Online quotas for ₹300 Special Entry, Arjita Sevas and rooms open in advance and fill fast.
  • Carry A valid photo ID (Aadhaar preferred) for every pilgrim, including children — the same IDs are verified at entry.
  • Decide Paid ₹300 Special Entry (time-slot, shorter wait) or free Sarva Darshan (flexible). See Step 4.
  • Not sure which darshan suits you? See our guide to all darshan types.
💡 No booking? No problem. Free Sarva Darshan and spot rooms are always available for walk-in pilgrims — head to Step 4 and Step 3.

Reach Tirupati, then go up to Tirumala

Bus, car or walk up the sacred footpath (~22 km ghat)

  • 🚌 Bus APSRTC buses run frequently from the Alipiri bus stand up the hill — simplest for most pilgrims.
  • 🚗 Car Up via the Alipiri ghat road, down via the second ghat road (vehicle check at Alipiri).
  • 🚶 Walk Two footpaths — Alipiri Mettu (~9 km, free luggage transport) and the shorter Srivari Mettu (~2.1 km). Walkers collect a Divya Darshan token on the way — see Step 4.
  • On the hill, free buses shuttle between the bus stand, guest houses and temple.

VIP / protocol (break) darshan is recommendation-based and not sold to the public. Anyone offering “guaranteed VIP darshan” for a fee — via an agent, a WhatsApp number or a look-alike site — is a scam.

The one legitimate donation-linked route is the Srivani Trust break darshan, arranged only through TTD’s own portal — how Srivani works →

Frequently asked questions

Can I get darshan at Tirumala without any booking?

Yes. Free Sarva Darshan is always available to walk-in pilgrims — collect a free SSD time-slot token and report at the Vaikuntam Queue Complex at your slot time. Current-day rooms are also available at the Central Reception Office, subject to availability.

Which darshan is fastest at Tirumala?

The ₹300 Special Entry (Sudarshanam) darshan generally has a shorter, time-slotted wait than free Sarva Darshan. Seniors, divyang pilgrims, parents with infants, NRIs and defence personnel have their own dedicated, quicker counters.

Do I need an ID to book and enter?

Yes. A valid government photo ID (Aadhaar preferred) is required for every pilgrim, including children, and the same IDs are verified at the queue entrance.

Is the laddu prasadam free?

You receive laddu with your darshan. Additional laddus can be purchased at the counter, subject to the daily limit.

Are “VIP darshan” packages from agents genuine?

No. VIP/protocol darshan is recommendation-based and never sold to the public. Any paid “guaranteed VIP darshan” offer from an agent, WhatsApp number or unofficial website is a scam — book only via official TTD channels. The only legitimate donation-linked route is the Srivani Trust break darshan via TTD’s own portal.

This guide explains the general process to help you plan. Darshan types, tokens, timings, quotas and prices are set by TTD and change from time to time — please confirm current details on the official links above before you travel. 🙏
